Sweet Jesus, This Sucks

Dear skin:

Please stop itching like crazy for no apparent reason. You cannot possibly be developing an allergic reaction to my sunscreen, a brand which I have used for years without incident. Yes, I know they say high SPF, which is the only kind I use, can cause skin irritation, but I've used high-SPF sunscreens ever since they were in widespread use and I've never had ill effects from them before, and I'm damn sure not going to stop now. (For those of you just joining the long-running, if not terribly popular, Wang Xi-feng Show, I'm very fair-skinned and there's a history of skin cancer in my family, so I'm very careful about the sunscreen. 55 is the absolute lowest SPF I feel safe with, and I prefer the higher ranges; Neutrogena makes SPF 110 now.)

Moreover, I see no evidence of bites or irritation--just itchiness. I guess it could be body hair in that awkward, prickly growing-back-in stage, but it doesn't usually itch like this. (I also guess it could be contact dermatitis from the hotel sheets in Ohio, but that's really something that happens to the lolmom, not me.)

Whatever your problem is, get over it or I will take matters into my own hands. This, I assure you, you will not like.

You and the lolmom both. (Lolmom was always allergic to a lot of things. Then she had X-chan and me and is now allergic to even more. We can only use Wisk laundry detergent, for instance.) I asked her if she thought it might be contact dermatitis, and she was all "lol duz it l@@k liek poison ivy???" and I was all, "No, it looks like ordinary skin that really, really itches. And has big red and white stripes from where I finally let go of the last shred of my self-control and started scratching. D:" Well, she gets contact dermatitis from hotel sheets ALL THE TIME, so she'd know.

In this weather? XD ...yeah, you know, that's probably it. It is dry year-round, no matter what I do. Either that, or it's a mysterious malady of some sort and I will be immortalized in the dermatological journals. :D

Also, randomly, I just got to seeing your wedding photos on Facebook (yeah, I'm the worst FBer ever) and they are so cute they make me want to puke. In a good way. :D

Lolmom's entire life has been about not brushing against things and being careful to not get things on her skin. The entire natural and chemical world is out to get her, apparently. O_o
