No, it wasn't ER bad, but it could have been if I was even more stubborn than I was.
The first time, I was very young and took poor care of my ears. It got infected and the rash spread all the way to my face when I decided to call it quits.
The second time was a few years ago, I was pulled into a teeny bopper store at the mall by peer pressure from my aunt and cousin to get my ears pierced. There, I bought "titanium" earrings (I have very sensitive skin) to go with my piercing for $25. At that price, it was probably more like titanium coated, if even that. Long story short: my ears swelled all nasty-like and I looked like Buddha, so I had to remove them before it became impossible to do it by hand and I'd have to resort to surgery. Since I took them out within the first week, there was no chance of me salvaging my piercing, and I'd have to wait until it healed so I can repierce.
I'm getting married in May and want pierced ears by then, but now I am seriously chickening out and considering clip ons or just au naturale.
