Curiosity Killed the Eel

I just got a Christmas package from dethorats today. Although I haven't opened it yet, I did open the card, and reference was made to "educational toys". For those ignorant of my Deep And Mournful Past, Price and I grew up together. This is why I know the educational toy in question is not going to be something nice and happy (like, say, Food Pyramid Man, with incredible Balancing! action).

I look forward to the 25th with mingled dread and anticipation. XD

(Also, cards from driley1 and augustuscaesar arrived, but they know that already. And now so does everybody else :D)

In totally unrelated news, I finally caved to the awesome power of Charjit, the Christmas Rhino, and applied for another credit card, except this time I'm preapproved for it. Also, Callice has figured out how to open the guest room door by banging her head against it hard enough, although she received an unpleasant surprise last night when I swatted her for doing it whilst I was trying to watch Amadeus.

Perhaps the educational toy is a fully operational mini slaughterhouse!

Choc used to be very talented at opening sliding doors. She'd wiggle a paw into the gap and then slowly and carefully widen it until she could squeeze through. Then she'd either moult or poo on my things, because she's a bitch like that.

Actually, knowing Price, that's not a bad guess. :D

Lotus was mechanically inclined, and often opened doors by swinging on them, although in her old age, she found it easier to whine and cry until her human servants opened the doors for her. Fortunately, because Callice did not have a family before she came home with me, we can counter her by slamming the door hard so that no amount of headbanging will dislodge it.

Misty's so deaf now that even the doors slamming in the wind doesn't bother her... whereas I jump a mile!

Lotus looked amusingly undignified when she did it, which is probably why she did it when we weren't home to laugh at her. She knew when you were laughing at her, and she'd shoot you this glare that said, Soon, you will receive a surprise on the carpet.

Callice just has this perpetually guilty look, as befits a cat living in a Catholic household ;)

I think there's no real way for a cat to jump up and swing on a doorknob whilst retaining her dignity.

XD I hope you like it, although it isn't precisely a fully operational mini slaughterhouse. Though that would be really cool, thinking about it...

XD Our cat opens doors that way sometimes too. But usually the evil kitty just claws and claws and CLAWS at the door until we give in about an hour later and let him in.

The Li'l Jungle Slaughterhouse Kit, by Playskool, for hours of meatpacking fun! They could have plastic cows that were held together by Velcro, so you could pull them apart (or "cut" them apart with the plastic knife). And I'm getting way too into the mental image, so I'll stop now. XD

Callice bats her paw about frantically under my bedroom door (she had an accident on my bed her first night at home, so now she's not allowed in there anymore). I think it's more to make sure I'm there than for any other reason.
