Three-day weekend! Hurrah!

Exciting plans:
1.) Visit used-book store in Salem, because I am not going to be happy until I do.
2.) Watch movies.
3.) Drink sangria (the most important part of this balanced New Year's Eve weekend).

Huzzah!

BECAUSE IT HATESES YOU!

To be honest, I have litres of the stuff on the night in question ;)

CLEARLY THIS IS THE CASE D:

We had a couple of glasses each. I was impressed that teh m0mmy did not immediately flop over and go to sleep ;)

I take it that teh m0mmy has a fairly low alcohol tolerance level.

That, and she is also allergic to the sulfites in wine--not deathly allergic, but her body's way of reacting to the DO NOT WANT substance is to fall asleep ;)

Ah, that makes sense. Wine used to make me sleepy too, but I think that was more to do with the copious amounts I drank of it.

ALSO, look in my recent entry in the bit that says RPG PEOPLE or similar, and in the comments. If I were in Chicago, you'd come visit me there, right? RIGHT???

Well, it is a depressant. At least we know that m0mmy does not have a promising career as a barfly ahead of her in her old age.

I would, because I remember Chicago fondly even if I am afraid of Gary. (I was going to let this pass by without a remark, and then I realized you might need to be told the local context for this. If you're in Chicago, and you drive eastward, once you cross the county line, you're in Lake County, Indiana, which is where Gary--city name, not personal name--is located. This is not a bad thing in and of itself, but Gary is the murder capital of the US and I do not want to be killinated. At least not before I'm done with my book. D:)

I still have to try to campaign vigorously for Indianapolis instead, though *g*

Aw, I'm sure she's very saddened by that.

I've heard of Gary, Indiana, so presumably the murder thing would be WHY I've heard of it. Remind me never to go there o.O

Indianapolis is far less likely, because you're the only person I know from there *g* Also, because I might run into Axl, and that could prove dangerous to us all ;)

Yes, as how can she possibly meet men???? The whole world knows you're nothing without a spouse. However, I have strictly forbidden her to date Wilma the Dog Lady's son.

Well, also Michael Jackson is from there. Which explains EVERYTHING. But the Communist Party of Indiana headquarters are there also! :D

I could introduce you to my friends! And I have kin there! *tries really hard* Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think Axl is there anymore, but you know better than I what he's up to. ;)

Does Wilma the Dog Lady's son smell like dog?

Aha! That's where I would have heard it from, then :)

I believe he is living in caves without his eyebrows and being a hermit. Are there caves in Indiana?

No, but m0mmy was highly disturbed when Wilma the Dog Lady came over to borrow something and tried to pimp her son out to my mother. As though I would want those filthy people acting like they were some kind of relations to me. Bad enough that my father went and married some illiterate redneck who doesn't know her place.

There are caves in Indiana, but they're mostly in this part of the state as you head towards the Kentucky border; I live maybe an hour and a half from Squire Boone Caverns in Marengo. :)

Is your father's wife really illiterate, or just the sort of literate where she may as well be illiterate because it's not like she makes any sense out of things?

Marengo sounds far too much like Mango for my liking. I think I might be allergic to the place by association.

To use the charming patois of her native hickhole, she don't know grammer [sic] good. From all I've seen, anyway. Besides, we're talking about the Kentucky border; I hope we can get the state to give us a bounty on the border-jumpers. ;)

You're not missing very much. It's in Crawford County, whose county seat is depressing because when you drive through English, you can see that there is Nothing There (tm).

Now is probably not the time for me to say that Kentucky has my favourite US accent, then, huh?

And I suppose it's not Nothing There in the cool ghost town sort of way :(

You already had the foresight to tell me your shameful sekrit *g* It's not that Kentucky is really OMG TEH 3V0L; there's just a regional rivalry between the two states. When I was living in Maryland, we used to snap on West Virginians all the time.

It's Nothing There in the sense that you can tell that there USED to be things there, but it's all gone to rack and ruin or else been bulldozed so they could put up a golf course.

We have that with Victoria and New South Wales. People from Melbourne hate Sydney on principle and vice versa :)

Aw, that's not the good sort of Nothing There. I want to see an Authentic American Ghost Town one day, but not so much a bulldozed town.

Also, when I was driving through Louisville (there's a highway persiflage such that I have to go through part of Louisville to get to Jeffersonville, IN in the most efficient manner), I was wondering which Kentucky accents, exactly, you'd been hearing, because none of them sound really euphonious to me ;)

You will have to go farther west than Indiana for that :(

I would watch movies, if only something decent was on. Although Criminal Intent is on late tonight, which is always something. But now they've moved Columbo to 2 in the morning, the bastards, and I can't stay up that late. >.<

At any rate. *cough* I was a-wanting to look at something on my website, only I discovered that it was down for some reason. So I checked yours, and it's down, too. Of course, it could be a very temporary thing, but I don't know so I thought I would mention it anyway. ^_^ Not that it matters very much, ye ken, I just thought I ought to pass on the information. ^_^ Oh, but the email still works, so it's just the site that's dying.

Thank you for your icon; I had long wondered what the answer was.

I haven't visited XFO lately, though my understanding is that I won't need to renew until early March. (I'm sure I'll find that my understanding is wrong, which is inevitable.) If the e-mail is up, the site itself is probably just experiencing some momentary downtime. [EDIT: Checked just now, am having the same problem.] Well, shit.

However, if it makes you feel better, I did not just randomly remove everything from XFO and not tell y'all. ^_^;;;
