Disagreement is faaar from bashing. Bashing is stuff like "all religion should be banned because it only ever brings out the worst in people". I encounter that one a lot of late, and it makes my eyebrows do things.

Frankly, though, I think that statement is permissible only if the writer is a particularly idiotic thirteen.

I think it's one of those things where it doesn't work to argue, simply because they just have such an immovable mindset. If they can be oblivious to people like Mother Theresa, then me pointing stuff out isn't going to help!

As you know, I am an atheist who doesn't really care what anyone else's belief is (unless it involves being mean to Cats ;_;). As a sign of respect of other people's choices I don't debate with people about religion, and because of my own beliefs I don't really have anything worthwhile to say about it anyway.

So, in conclusion, you can talk and wangst all you like and I will read, but I most likely won't comment and the only part that really matters to me is that it troubles you. You could be worshipping the Great Goddess Anoia, the Goddess of Things That Get Stuck In Drawers for all it matters, it's still your own choice. Although I can easily see the use of worshipping Anoia. She could really irritate your enemies! Imagine how angry they will be when they get to work because a fork got stuck in the drawer again and they had to spend fifteen minutes trying to wiggle it out until someone suggested they just take out the whole drawer, and then everything came tumbling down and they had to spend an additional fifteen minutes cleaning up and by then they were late for work and the boss had already said that if they were late ONE MORE TIME they were OUT, and that means YOU.

You know, Cat, I hadn't even thought about the mighty Anoia, but after the highly cogent example you gave me of the ways in which she might help get someone fired, I think she is truly to be feared. Her altar should look like a drawer with things jammed into it from all angles.

I don't expect you to debate or discuss; it's. I am, however, aware that a lot of people aren't really interested, so I figure it's only fair to allow them to opt out if they want.

Anoia is indeed a remarkable goddess. And now you probably think that I made it all up, but that is not so. In fact she exists. Albeit on the Discworld, which features many, many gods and goddesses, i.e.:

Aniger, goddess of squashed animals. Appears after someone thinks "Oh god, what was that I hit?"

Flatulus, god of the winds.

and, of course, Vometia, the goddess of being sick.

But seriously, I am legitimately interested in what you have to say; although I may disagree with it, religion is something with which I can't really fight, and it's something that interests me no matter how far-fetched it may get.
