1.) Snow is fucking filthy. Seriously, you wouldn't think frozen water coming from the sky in an endless concatenation of beautiful special unique flakes would leave your car all streaky and dirty, but it does. I think adulthood has ruined the magical/exciting/neat aspects of snow for me forever, now that I live in a state and work in a profession where I occasionally have to go out and drive in it. At least we had a mild winter and we're supposed to get back up into the 40s and 50s next week.
2.) I wonder if Paul Scott was influenced by A Passage to India (E.M. Forster) at all when he was writing the Raj Quartet (only about one of the greatest series EVAR). I've loved the Quartet (and its sequel, Staying On) for years, but I'm reading A Passage to India at the moment and am struck by the similarities.
3.) We had stir-fried pork and vegetables with cashew rice for dinner. :9
4.) I got more used books at the Book Worm in Corydon. YAY USED BOOKS :D
5.) I ♥
ukekenshin. And the rest of you too, of course. But particularly Talyn.

There are piles of snow in our mall's parking lot that are black, through and through. All the other snow has melted, but that snow is so filthy that it makes me sick - and I normally love snow and want it to stick around as long as possible. The stuff that fell on my car cleaned it up and left it looking shiny, but that mall snow? Once it got splashed on the sides of my car, it looks like I went off-roading through the landfill.
Dumb question: what is the ":9" emoticon doing? Is it licking its chops, or is it smiling, or drooling...? **is lost**

As a kid, I always wondered why "white as the driven snow" was a descriptor, since any idiot knows that after you drive on snow it turns black. But yes, it's left grody streaks on my car, like I didn't already need to take it through the car wash. It doesn't help that the squeegee at the
Soil HellShell is apparently mud cut with chocolate Yoo-Hoo (tm), so it does more harm than good.Your first guess was correct. It is in fact licking its chops. (If it were :6, it would be somewhat ill.)

Date: 2007-02-20 10:54 pm (UTC)I can't remember ever seeing that descriptor, and thank God for it; saying, "white as snow" just makes me think of, "But what about yellow snow? What about parking lot snow?" And didn't you know, they never change the water in those squeegee repositories! It's been the same since that station was built, which may explain why the water at the Albertson's where I fill up is blacker than the blackest burned manure.
When the only normal-style emoticons you use are >DDD and :DDD, you never recognize the other ones. **shrugs**
