My sixteen-year-old self, shiny-eyed with True Believerism and seeing nothing ludicrous about addressing a total stranger as "comrade", would be at a loss to understand why this is funny.

My twenty-six-year-old self, terribly urbane and mature, guffawed audibly at the last picture. As, I suspect, will dethorats.

Oh my! Oh my oh my oh my! That...was truly...something. Certainly I love how the Chinese postcards depict their countrymen as looking so very NOT ASIAN. And, of course, all the lovely propaganda. Oh communism. This warrents the Nixon/Khruschev icon made of win.

While I'm of the school that ultimately intermarriage is the key to solving a lot of racial!asshattery, I must say I hadn't really envisioned it taking that particular turn. Maybe the use of scientific Bolshevik principles will conquer specific ethnic characteristics, uniting us all in the glorious struggle for the dictatorship of the proletariat. Yes, I did read a lot of that sort of thing in high school, why do you ask? XD
