We are not a welfare state, so we have a certain amount of beggars (they're not ubiquitous, but you see a fair amount in any reasonably-sized city). Also, this is probably a breathtakingly naïve question, so please pardon my American motarderie: I realize there is a particular north European phenotype, but is it really so distinct that you can identify non-Danes by sight alone? (We're pretty heterogeneous here, so you really can't peg an American vs. a non-American just by looking.)
I pay high taxes also, but I am opposed to all taxation on political grounds (my platform is called the STFU and GTFO agenda, representing the two things I think government ought to do. Well, I also think it should busy itself with protecting our lives, liberty, and property rights instead of defining marriage, regulating spotted-owl habitats, or establishing Daylight Savings Time).
