+ Dinner was sweet and delicious. I'm kind of glad I didn't order a full portion of the ahi tuna sashimi and just have that as my meal, although from the weight-loss standpoint I probably should have. (I went over my limit by 400 calories. Yeek.) It was tasty, but it wasn't authentic; I think I vastly prefer honest-to-God Japanese-style sashimi.
+ This weight-loss stuff is hard.
+ This not-cussing stuff is hard. I already owe me $1.50.
+ Our kitchen smells like SWEET, DELICIOUS CARAMEL. This is going to be the best birthday cake EVER. (Until next year.)
+ Mom got me some coasters! Hurrah!
+ I now have "Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora on MP3. This makes me unreasonably happy. If t3h n0v3l ever gets made into a movie, I want "Tarzan Boy" to figure in the soundtrack somehow. This is because I have bad taste. (It doesn't have to be, like, the main theme or anything; the soundtrack people could make a subtle reference to it or just use the chorus and I'd be happy. Actually, the lyrics don't really fit with the story, so sampling the chorus may work best.)
+ The neighbors are setting off fireworks. Callice does not like loud banging noises, probably due to her Angsty Past. (Callice was a year and a half old when she came home with me. She was a feral kitten who was turned in to the shelter; she had been living in a bus engine, and when the bus operator unwittingly started the bus, she was burnt over her back half. You can't tell where the burns were now, but the fact that she was living in a bus engine, combined with some of her other idiosyncrasies, makes me think that she lost her mother early.)
+ Callice would also like the sun turned off.
+ [livejournal.com profile] strawberryjulia, I was just kind of idly wondering if there is, to your knowledge, any Maori-language children's TV programming. I don't watch TV, but I might make an exception for that.
+ I was trying to grind some coffee earlier today and accidentally spilled some of my coffee beans on the floor. The only good thing about this is that our kitchen smelled like coffee for about five minutes, until I swept it up.
+ I seem to have given the lolmom a summer reading program. We were at the bookstore last night and she said something about wanting to read The Pillars of the Earth (Ken Follett), which I have, so I lent it to her, along with The $64 Tomato (William Alexander), which I thought she might like. I've stacked a bunch of other stuff I have that she might like.

Your cat: :O!! Sad story. ;_; I'm a cat lover. Can I have her?

I first read "The $64 Tomato" as "The $64 Toronto" O.o That translates to someone is tired and that means someone has to go to bed but this someone wants to see the LJ friends spam the someone's LJ like there's no tomorrow because.. thought process cannot continue.

Dare not, anyway. Feel not worthy of spamming yer LJ as we just added one another.

Yeah, I was sad to hear about it too, but I'm glad it was just a case of her not knowing where to live and not deliberate abuse. ;_; I don't think you really want my cat, as we have had some toileting issues with her in the past. Of course, if you want cats who urinate with gay abandon all over the place if they're not watched...;D

Feel free to spam. I don't promise I'll get back to it OMG IMMEDIATELY, but I always appreciate commentary. It means I said something worth commenting on. ;)

My cat has a UTI. ;_;

Cats are love, and if my cat weren't queen of the house, I'd get another one in a heartbeat. :D

Delicious spam is delicious.

Awww, poor thing. :\ Callice has been checked out by a vet and has no such excuse.

Cats are furry pests. *g* Callice needs to be an only pet; otherwise, I'd come home to find this entire part of the Midwest submerged in cat pee. If she thinks she sees another cat, she takes it more seriously than I've ever taken anything in my entire life.

Mmmm, Spam, eggs, sausage, and Spam.

UGH re weight loss. I am somehow managing to put on weight at a rate of knots despite not eating any more than usual. This irks me.

I really should buy more good coffee. That way I can drink it black and unsweetened and thus MIRACULOUSLY LOSE THIRTY POUNDS! Or not.

I think my thing is that I'm just now buckling down and applying some self-discipline to me. One of the secrets on the list is something I'm trying to quit doing, just to prove I can, and I was doing okay. Now, all of a sudden, I want to do it more than anything else in the world and I would probably gladly swap my immortal soul for it ;)

I'll drink any coffee black and unsweetened. This is because I am a manly man, though, so you may not wish to follow my lead. Well, I guess you can if you want, but by so doing, you agree to indemnify me and hold me harmless for any psychological trauma arising therefrom ;)

That is the way of such things, unfortunately. Even if you forbid yourself to do something you hated, you'd still want to do it more than anything in the world.

Ugh, I like coffee too much to drink bad coffee without disguising the taste as much as possible.

I'm not sure I'd want to clean my closet THAT much, for instance ;)

Yeah, sometimes there's no cure for it. I tend to drink black coffee more if I'm showing off for the other guys.

Oh, I so would. Tell me I'm not allowed to do something and suddenly I'll have no other interest in the world ;)

I drink it black when it's good... or, um, in latte form. Because I am a Melbournian and that is what we drink.

I want a caramel kitchen, too. ;_; Why are you hogging all of the caramel kitchens?!

I hate how my weight fluctuates. It'll suddenly go down to a number where I get all excited because then I get closer to what I'd actually like to weigh, only to jump back up to a a completely unacceptable number. Stupid weight.

But it's so simple! All you have to do is make yourself some caramel, which you can then stir into CAKE BATTER and enjoy a delicious caramel cake. Then your kitchen, too, will smell like caramel.

Unless you leave it on the burner for too long, and then it will smell like a bloody mess. But that's the risk you run!

My weight stays pretty stable, but the problem is that it stays pretty stable at a completely unacceptable number. :\

Well...
There aren't many that are entirely Maori on the major TV channels, at least for kids (there are a couple of more pre/teenage ones, like Mai Time and a couple of others that I can't remember)
But for little kids stuff, here's a link
Maori TV - Tamariki (http://www.maoritelevision.com/programmes/tamariki/tamariki.htm)
You might be able to find clips somewhere or somesuch.
We also have the news in Maori (Te Karere) (http://tvnz.co.nz/view/tvone_minisite_index_skin/tvone_te_karere_group) which you can definitely get clips of, if you're at all interested.

<--I'd make it dance, but I'm just not that 1337 with the ASCII.

Groovy! I'll definitely look for clips sometime. Thanks so much! :D

Haha, I definitely wouldn't be able to make it dance either, don't worry. It's the thought that counts, anywho.

No worries. It's quite something to encounter someone who's actually interested in Maori in general.

I can't see what's not to be interested in *g* My obsessions are many and varied and extremely peculiar to nearly everyone who isn't me. :D
