xifeng: (like so much else in life)
So here's the deal.

So [livejournal.com profile] zyphryus and I went to college together, right, and she's my pal and everything, and I haven't seen her in person for nearly three years because a.) she spent part of that time in England and b.) we are both SO TOTALLY CRIPPLED and CANNOT DRIVE and OH THE AGONIZING TWO-AND-A-HALF HOUR DISTANCE IS INSURMOUNTABLE. My point being, I'm a shitty friend. Anyway, Lyd is having an exhibition in Bloomington, and my guilty conscience is pricking me. I want to go and see her, but at the same time I'm not overly enthused about being in Bloomington because that part of my life is over and I'm afraid I will be overcome with Teh Sad and do something extremely unwise like attempt to test the truth of the assertion that the IU library allows book-borrowing to all Hoosiers, which will then commit me to stack upon stack of scholarly literature and clandestine weekend trips for the rest of my life and I don't know what else. Returning to the point here, I want to be a good friend and support Lyd, but I really don't want to go to Bloomington.

So then it occurred to me that I know some of you in Indianapolis! And that it might be kind of groovy to hang out and shit! And if I could make the big trip in one fell swoop, why, how beautifully serendipitous!

So, like, if anybody wants to kick it old-school or whatever the kids are calling it these days, feel free to comment. (I'm lookin' at you, [livejournal.com profile] anjala, [livejournal.com profile] beldar, and [livejournal.com profile] ziggy_prime.) I am NOT asking you to put me up on Saturday night (Lyd's reception is on Sunday) unless you really WANT to hear the euphonious rhythm of my snoring; I can get me a hotel room or impinge on my kin. But lunch, coffee, fun times in assorted public places, several rounds of Mailbox Baseball, whatever, would be terribly, terribly welcome.
xifeng: (siiiiiing!)
Exciting events of yesterday: We exchanged the original TV set for the larger one that m0mmy wanted (with much hemming and hawing on her part, because she thinks she doesn't deserve to have a new television set and shouldn't ask for a bigger one even if the bigger one is what she wants and was within my price range anyway). Hurrah! Whereupon I went to Borders and irresponsibly blew my gift card (BOOKS FOR THE WIN), and then we went to Iwataya where I downed raw fish. Mmmm, delicious raw fish. ♥

(Speaking of fish: HEY [livejournal.com profile] angeljuggalette, DO YOU WANT TO GO TO RED LOBSTER OR THE BONEFISH OR SOMMAT SOMETIME. I'm free weekends and evenings anymore.)

Also, on a happy note for [livejournal.com profile] forgottensanity, [livejournal.com profile] jurhael, and anyone else who follows XFO with bated breath, I did write PowWeb support, and XFO is back up and running so my e-mail is arriving again. I do wish, however, that they would take care of these things WITHOUT my having to write them first.

Okay, off. I have library books that need to go back, I have an ass that I'm tired of seeing get bigger, and Mass is at 4.

Love!

Hey.

I wish I had a huge entertaining whopper I could tell about why I was gone, but the truth is that sometimes I come home exhausted every night in a week and I don't have time or inclination to piddle about on teh Intarwebz. Also I have been really disinclined to do anything that isn't reading lately. Also also, I wonder if, like [livejournal.com profile] naiadea, I am getting to a point where the Internet isn't fun anymore, although I really hope not as that would take some of my leisure activities away from me.

Then again, it could also be due to the OMFG BEASTLY heat. We just killed the A/C and boy am I suffering already.

Events of the past week or so )

Behind the cut lies a disastrous attempt to orchestrate a social get-together! Are you intrepid enough to brave Lee's horrific planning skills? )

Uh, yeah. So that's about it.
