This post is pre-recorded for your convenience, and has been cobbled together from Friday and also from stuff that happened today. Thus, it is the Post That Ate Suburbia and contains all kinds of boring minutiae about my boring life.

Like, for instance, this. )

HAPY BDAY 2 U

In unrelated stupid news, I am teh exhausted and also ded from everything. I plan to selfishly spend this weekend sitting on my ass and reading things because I bought Warriors of Medieval Japan back in March and am just now getting to it. Also it is time to go to the library WHEE YAY. Also also I do not have a backlog, search-wise. It is to celebrate.

Last weekend I went to the bookstore (see exciting entry about this, previously on the Wang Xi-feng Show) and am now kicking myself because I did not pick up a battered copy of Daishi-san, which appears to be one of my favorite kinds of Crap Reading: a novel about feudal Japan written by a clueless white guy! At least judging from the cover illustration, which had a clueless white guy and a couple of samurai running around on what appeared to be another planet, it promised cheese galore.

(If you're wondering how I knew it was on another planet, I will say this much: I've never been to Japan, but I'm pretty sure none of it is high desert.)

Mm, gotta doze now. ♥

First, a happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] syrahsmile!

This is, like, a fabulous weekend. I've done nothing whatsoever except be unproductive. Oh, and I read. And I went to the Book Broker and bought an entire stack of YA Poo, because I've read all the Poo I already have. Apparently I hit the motherlode of Sweet Dreams and Merivale Mall books. Anyone who needs to laugh at me for being a fag and collecting teen girl books from the '80s can do so now.

The weather's been fabulous. It's down to the mid-70s during the day, and it hits the 50s and 60s at night. Plus, the Evil Humidity is gone. YAY. Though it is kind of sad to see that it's nearly dark at 7:30 at night.

Made world-famous Shrimp Thing for Mom for dinner today. There's a red version (shrimp, tomatoes, and red wine being the key ingredients) and a white version (shrimp, cream, and white wine being the key ingredients), but I'd like to do a green version with pesto. :9

Not much else to report. H wrote, so I'm in the process of writing back. I know I owe people e-mail and comments and whatnot, and hope to get to that tonight. ♥

The dishwasher installation guy came today! And he installed our dishwasher! And it's shiny and white and pretty and clean! And now we don't have to wallow in our own filth! Seriously, we just gazed upon it for ages with our shining, myopic eyes. Also, the element is black (the one in the old dishwasher was white with lime), and it has all these neato-keen features, and--

Holy God, I bought an appliance.

I'm, like, a real adult now, or something. Mostly "something", though.

[EDIT: Also, this has absolutely nothing to do with anything, but I'm re-reading Helliconia Summer by Brian W. Aldiss and feel vague disappointment because it's fun and a good read, but not as good as Helliconia Spring. Probably this is because I fell hard for Aoz Roon and haven't found anyone to measure up to him in the second book.]
