This is a really embarrassing admission to make, but I feel compelled to do so because a.) I am a little bored and b.) the rest of this post will make no sense whatsoever if I don't.

But what is l33's shocking sekrit? )

Things that have happened lately, which may or may not be of general interest:

+ Mom's heating coil in her car is shot, so she has a loaner, which spares me the necessity of carting her around (thank God). It will, alas, cost $1500 or thereabouts to fix, and the parts probably won't be in until later this week because that's just how those stories go.

+ Mystery of the Missing Paychecks was solved last week. I was going to cash a couple of paychecks (I get paid every week, and last month I was still getting checks for work I'd billed for in July, since we'd agreed that I'd start on 1 August to make it easier to bill). I was going to go to the bank after I got off the phone with Joy, and couldn't find my paychecks (I distinctly remembered they were in my car), and tore the downstairs apart looking for them. Long story short, I had stuffed them in a library book which I then returned (presumably I put them in there so I wouldn't forget about them). The librarians were nice enough to ring me up and let me know.

+ Had dinner with Joy Fri. night. Mmm, red meat and chocolate pie.

I CAN HAS MAORI NAO???? )

I went to Madison and Vevay yesterday, and you didn't. If you happen to like artsy, pretty little towns, you are jealous, because that's what these are. Madison's a couple miles past Hanover, where two of my aunts went to college, so I got to drive through Hanover on my way there; the college isn't on the state road and it doesn't appear as pervasive as IU is in Bloomington. (Yes, everything is about Bloomington for me, and it likely will be for the next six months or so, whenever I manage to get up. Fair warning.) Ordinarily, I wouldn't go out that far, but one of the other searchers had to beg off, and I only had a couple of piffly little things in Corydon and New Albany anyway (plus I was worried about getting my eight hours in). It's easily about a three-and-a-half hour drive back from Vevay, so I more or less collapsed when I got home.

I've got the entire day before me and nobody is going to make me do any title work or anything. Hurrah! I have a stack of things I want to finish reading, and I might try to get things for [livejournal.com profile] ukekenshin in the mail at long last. I might also go buy more YA poo, I don't know; I've read everything I have now. (I've called a moratorium on new books since I have stuff I just got in Salem and haven't finished, but YA poo doesn't really count since I don't read it as religiously; it's generally turning-my-brain-off or waiting-for-my-nails-to-dry matter.)

And maybe I'll fiddle with one of the sites and write up some notes for the samurai game and do some laundry and figure out what to do. It's the weekend; my obligations are all suspended.

Speaking of obligations: a happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] ocarina. Hope it was fabulous. ♥

See you all later.

First, a happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] syrahsmile!

This is, like, a fabulous weekend. I've done nothing whatsoever except be unproductive. Oh, and I read. And I went to the Book Broker and bought an entire stack of YA Poo, because I've read all the Poo I already have. Apparently I hit the motherlode of Sweet Dreams and Merivale Mall books. Anyone who needs to laugh at me for being a fag and collecting teen girl books from the '80s can do so now.

The weather's been fabulous. It's down to the mid-70s during the day, and it hits the 50s and 60s at night. Plus, the Evil Humidity is gone. YAY. Though it is kind of sad to see that it's nearly dark at 7:30 at night.

Made world-famous Shrimp Thing for Mom for dinner today. There's a red version (shrimp, tomatoes, and red wine being the key ingredients) and a white version (shrimp, cream, and white wine being the key ingredients), but I'd like to do a green version with pesto. :9

Not much else to report. H wrote, so I'm in the process of writing back. I know I owe people e-mail and comments and whatnot, and hope to get to that tonight. ♥
